AMA provides avenue to report cases of pile of refuse in the city

In a post on its Facebook timeline, the AMA said the “city dwellers must be watchdogs and ensure that undignified waste disposals are photographed and reported to AMA for immediate action.”

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has released numbers for the general public to report people who dump waste at illegal sites within the city.

The post urges every citizen who sees another littering to take photographs and send them to the number via Whatsapp.

The numbers are 0202464444 or 0202464411.

Even though, the post does not tell how the AMA officials will arrest the perpetrators, many expect them to use the images sent to identify the culprits and punish them.

Some people dump refuse at sites which are not demarcated for such activities. Many people who engage in such illegal acts have said that they are forced to dump their waste at illegal places because the waste management companies that are to collect their rubbish are not punctual.

However, the AMA has stated that the waste management companies will be punctual in collecting rubbish within the metropolis.

This means they will have every power to sanction people who engage in fly tipping.
